From Kitchen to Cosmos: Cookstoves Firing Up Eco-Friendly Cuisine
Our cook stove project for carbon credits involves providing cleaner, more efficient cook stoves to communities, typically in developing countries like India, and biomass is also still used in Indian urban and rural areas. They cook and heat their homes using solid fuels such as charcoal, wood, dung, and agricultural waste on open fires or traditional cookstoves. And around 4.3 million people die per year due to household air pollution. In India, 166 million households depend on biomass fuel, and 4,88,000 deaths occur due to indoor air pollution, according to the World Health Organization.
Improved cookstoves provide a clean cooking solution with a view to reducing the drudgery of women and children through reduced consumption of fuel wood, saving cooking time, and reducing emissions. Carbonfixx is planning to launch in August 2024 to promote improved biomass cooking stoves in all the states and UTs and provide clean cooking energy solutions. At present, more than 50 different cook stove models are approved by the Ministry. In order to create awareness generation as well as cook stove dissemination, manpower is needed, and hence training and skill development are very much necessary to create a positive impact in society, mainly in rural and semi-urban areas.
We are planning to make the cook stove more efficient, useful, and safe for individual households. In this project, many expected people to have already joined us in making a standard design, planning, and executing the overall project. Our cook stoves reduce emissions of greenhouse gases compared to traditional cooking methods, such as open fires or rudimentary stoves. The project aims to mitigate climate change by decreasing emissions while also improving health outcomes and reducing deforestation.
